Dear Birth
Mother,
We’d like to start this
letter by thanking you for considering us as the adoptive family for your child.
We realize this decision is not an easy one for you. Please know that you are in
our constant prayers. We also want you to know what a blessing you are to our
family!
We are Chris & Helen
from Kansas. We have been married for almost 8 years. Our entire married life we
have prayed for God to bless us with another child. With your help, we hope to
fulfill this dream.
We met at work and began
emailing one another often. Chris was in sales and Helen in customer service. We
met one February night and thought we would just be friends, but there seemed to
be something else there that neither of us could quite shake. So, we decided to
go on a date in July, got engaged in August and married in April of 2005. And
here we are today! J
Our son, Zachary, just
turned 18. Zac is Helen’s biological son whom Chris adopted 7 years ago. He is
an awesome, energetic, loveable young man who loves sports, his guitar and his
family! He’s always wanted a sibling in the home and is very excited about the
opportunity to have a little sister or brother, even though he will be heading
off to college or the military soon.
We live on a quiet street
in a moderately sized 4 bedroom house with 1.5 bathrooms, 2 living rooms and a
huge back yard. We live in a very friendly neighborhood. Our neighbors range
from newborn to elderly. Chris’ parents live close, less than a mile away.
Helen’s mother lives about 45 minutes away. We both have siblings that live
within an hour from our home that we see often. Family and friends are very
important to us as relationships are the foundation of life. Our families and
friends are very supportive of our decision to adopt and are readily available
to us if we ever have any needs.
Our professions suit our
personalities very well. Chris is a sales representative. He loves helping
others and sharing with them the benefits of the products he sells. His primary
goals in sales are honesty, integrity and making a good living for his family.
Helen is a receptionist. She is friendly and loves to make people smile. She
enjoys her job because she comes in contact with a variety of people and is able
to greet them with enthusiasm and her always caring
manor.
Family time is always fun!
Some activities we often enjoy are impromptu family sing a-longs, playing games,
reading, bowling, decorating for holidays, various church activities, volunteer
opportunities at the local rescue mission & other organizations, a recent
trip to the pumpkin patch and short day trips. Other more planned activities we
enjoy together are traveling out of town especially to the ocean, holiday
activities and birthday celebrations!
Our family is very active
in our church. We volunteer in our children’s Bible club (called AWANA), Helen
& Chris currently work with 6th graders and Zac works in the games
department. We also run the AWANA store where kids can buy fun items with the
shares they earn by learning verses and other activities. Chris works the video
booth on Sunday’s and Helen has a ministry sending cards to church
members.
This is just a little about
us and our lives. We hope you’ve enjoyed reading about us! In considering our
family for your child we want you to know that we value you and want to respect
you in all decisions regarding this adoption process. If your desire is to stay
connected to your child, we would like to send you photos and letters to update
you on the child’s life. We don’t have everything 100% figured out, so we can’t
tell you how every situation will turn out in your child’s life, but we do know
that we will love your child as our own and promise to take the best possible
care of him/her and raise him/her to the best of our
ability.
If you have questions or
would like further information, please contact our representative A. Kent
Vincent at (785) 234-0022. Thank you!
God bless
you,
Chris &
Helen
